Model Overview

The JIXIANG AIR is the debut mass-production model from Juneyao Group's automotive marque, JIXIANG AUTO. Established after Juneyao Group, the parent company of Juneyao Airlines, acquired Yudo Auto to secure vehicle manufacturing qualifications, the brand was officially unveiled in January 2024 alongside the announcement of the "JIXIANG AIR" moniker. The EV officially hit the domestic market on 7 May 2025, positioned as a C-segment pure electric sedan with two variants on offer: Model B (435km) and Model D (530km), carrying official guide prices of RM147,800 and RM159,800 respectively. Leveraging Juneyao Airlines' aviation heritage, the JIXIANG AIR is engineered to deliver a "private jet on wheels" travel experience. The model had previously made its regional debut in Thailand in November 2024, tagged from 1.19 million Thai Baht.

Design Language

Taking styling cues from commercial airliners, the JIXIANG AIR embodies what the carmaker calls the "OneBox" design philosophy. Up front, it features a closed-off front fascia flanked by "Wings of the Sky" LED headlamp clusters, which incorporate 240 LED diodes to deliver exceptional visual recognition when illuminated. The side profile adopts a sleek, aerodynamic fastback silhouette, complemented by flush pop-out door handles and multi-spoke alloy wheels. Round the back, a full-width taillight bar seamlessly integrates the indicators, brake lights, reverse lights, and rear fog lamps into a single unit. The vehicle achieves an impressively low drag coefficient of just 0.23 Cd.

Dimension-wise, the car measures 4550mm long, 1860mm wide, and 1515mm tall, with a generous 2800mm wheelbase. The exterior palette offers six colour options: Dawn Pink, Cloud White, Sky Blue, Earth Green, Sunrise Gold, and Dawn Black.

Inside, the cabin draws inspiration from airline business class suites, presenting a clean, minimalist layout. The dashboard is upholstered in premium suede-textured trim, paired with a brushed fabric headliner, ensuring over 75% of the cabin surfaces are finished in soft-touch materials. Across the range, it comes standard with an 8.8-inch floating digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch rotatable floating infotainment touchscreen. Transmission controls are managed via a steering column-mounted electronic gear selector. The cabin also boasts a expansive 2.0-square-metre panoramic glass roof crafted from Solar green glass, offering excellent heat insulation and UV rejection.

Powertrain and Performance

The JIXIANG AIR lineup is powered exclusively by a rear-mounted single electric motor. The Model B (435km) variant delivers an output of 147kW and 220Nm of torque, while the Model D (530km) variant pushes out 150kW and 250Nm of torque. Both variants sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 7.9 seconds, with top speed capped at 170km/h.

In terms of energy storage, the Model B packs a 51.2kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack (supplied by REPT BATTERO), yielding a CLTC-rated range of 435km; the Model D steps up to a 64.1kWh LFP battery pack (supplied by REPT SAIC), delivering a CLTC range of 530km. DC fast charging from 30% to 80% takes 0.5 hours, while a full AC slow charge requires 8 to 10 hours.

Chassis and Handling

The JIXIANG AIR sits on a rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) architecture. It features MacPherson strut independent suspension at the front and a sophisticated five-link independent setup at the rear. Steering is handled via an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system. Braking hardware consists of ventilated discs up front and solid discs at the rear, complete with an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB). Range-topping trims ride on 235/45 R19 tyres. The vehicle utilises a rigid monocoque body construction.

Cabin and Features

On the connectivity front, the JIXIANG AIR runs on the Crystal OS smart cockpit system jointly developed by JIXIANG AUTO and Unity, driven by a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor and supporting rich 3D multi-layout desktop interfaces. Users can toggle between three UI modes: Vehicle Control, "JIXIANG World" Interactive Desktop, and Pet Desktop. The system also integrates the "JIXIANG GO" AI mobility concierge, enabling seamless booking of airline tickets, hotel reservations, and travel itineraries.

For passenger comfort, standard equipment across the range includes power-adjustable heated front seats, a 256-colour ambient lighting system, an 8-speaker audio setup, automatic climate control, and rear air-con vents. The seats are wrapped in durable PU leatherette upholstery. Thanks to the 2800mm wheelbase, rear occupants enjoy an expansive 980mm of knee room. The rear-right passenger seat is further enhanced with a "One-Touch Boss Mode", offering 240mm of fore/aft slide adjustment and a deep 160° recline angle. Boot capacity is rated at 420 litres in standard guise, expanding to 1338 litres with the rear seats folded.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Safety-wise, the JIXIANG AIR is engineered around a high-strength steel safety cage structure, fitted with 6 airbags as standard across the range. Active safety kit includes a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), reverse parking sensors, Auto Brake Hold, Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), and a 540-degree panoramic camera system with a transparent chassis view.

Advanced driver assistance comes standard across all variants in the form of a Level 2 ADAS suite. Key functionalities include Full-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Centring Assist (LCA), and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB). However, it is worth noting that higher-tier automated parking capabilities are omitted.

Market Performance and Verdict

As Juneyao Airlines' maiden foray into the passenger car segment, the JIXIANG AIR squares off directly against mainstream contenders like the XPENG MONA M03, BYD Qin PLUS EV, and GAC AION S. Market reception indicates that the brand still faces a significant deficit in market presence compared to established marques; its entry price of RM147,800 offers little distinct competitive edge within this fiercely contested segment. Industry data points to monthly delivery figures averaging around 500 units. By June 2025, reports highlighted that JIXIANG AUTO's official Weibo handle had gone dormant for over a year.

With its distinctive aero-inspired styling, class-above rear legroom courtesy of the 2800mm wheelbase, the feature-laden Crystal OS, and a respectable 530km range, the JIXIANG AIR presents a uniquely compelling proposition in the RM150,000 EV bracket. Nonetheless, as a non-traditional cross-sector entrant, establishing widespread brand equity and securing sustainable sales momentum remain critical hurdles to overcome.
